Two wins… Predicting Leeds United’s festive period results

Leeds United Crest

As English football enters the busy festive period, we take a close look at Leeds United’s Championship clashes against Wigan Athletic and Derby County, and the FA Cup tie against Sunderland.

Leeds United v Wigan Athletic (Boxing Day)

Leeds United are having a torrid time in the Championship and have not won a single match this season.

Manager Neil Redfearn was expected to take the Whites to the playoffs, but at the moment the former Premier League outfit are struggling against relegation from the Championship.

However, Wigan Athletic are in a worse position than Leeds at the moment and are very likely to loss the game at Elland Road on Boxing Day.

Prediction: 2-0

Derby County v Leeds United (December 30)

Derby County will be looking for revenge when they take on Leeds at the iPro Stadium. The two sides met last month at Elland Road, and on that occasion the Whites ran out comfortable 2-0 winners.

Despite the fact that Leeds are struggling for points and consistency, it will be a tough match for the Rams, who could concede a goal.

However, playing at home and having a much better team will prove decisive. Expect Derby to win this match.

Prediction: 2-1

Sunderland v Leeds United (Sunday 4)

Playing Sunderland at the Stadium of Light is not easy even for a top Premier League club, and given Leeds’s dire situation at the moment, not many will fancy the Whites to win this FA Cup third-round tie.

However, the West Yorkshire outfit will have nothing to lose and will head into the game with confidence, which could just about see them emerge victorious in this clash.

Prediction: 0-1
