With the January transfer window just days away, the usual transfer rumours have resurfaced with some reports claiming Manchester United are on the verge of signing Kevin Strootman from AS Roma.
The Netherlands international has recently returned from a serious injury and while he would be the perfect addition to United’s midfield, it is hard to imagine his current club selling midway through a season that still holds much promise.
Well it seems they have no intention of parting with one of their finest stars, with Roma president James Pallotta indicating as much in a recent interview with Roma Radio.
In comments later published by Football Italia he said, “We’d be first in the league if it wasn’t for the injuries to (Leandro) Castan and Strootman.
“Strootman will not go to United.”
Roma continue to deny any potential move and well they should. But the rumours persist, in part due to lazy journalism and in part because Strootman is the missing piece of the jigsaw in terms of United’s midfield.
The only problem for them is, it appears he is going nowhere for now.
