Chelsea could recall Christian Atsu from his loan spell at Everton, according to reports back in the midfielder's native country of Ghana.
Atsu has failed to make an impression at Goodison Park and Chelsea have apparently become frustrated by his lack of first team opportunities on his loan spell so far.
The 22-year-old has played just nine times for Everton so far, with most of these appearances coming from the substitutes' bench.
It is a move which has done little to aid his development as a player and Jose Mourinho's side may relocate him as a result.
Atsu's pace and skill was expected to be one of Everton's major weapons this season, but the loan hasn't worked out as hoped.
The Toffees managed to beat a sizeable amount of Premier League clubs to him over the summer and the hope from Chelsea will be that interest will still be high in his services if they are to bring him back.
Atsu is currently at Stamford Bridge as he recovers from a hamstring injury and it seems that he may not be sent back to Merseyside at all.
West Ham United and Sunderland were two of the clubs linked during the summer transfer window and it remains to be seen whether they will make a bid in January if he is to be recalled.
Atsu's next first-team action is likely to be at the African Cup of Nations, as he has been named in the Ghana squad for the competition.
