NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, and Wii U controllers go through a shift of design in this gif.
2014 saw Nintendo celebrate its 125th birthday, since first being established as a hanafuda playing card company. It then started to venture into videogames in the 70s, and struck gold with the Famicom/NES in the 80s. It's the 80s where a new gif from GadgetLove begins, which shows the evolution of Nintendo's controllers.
If you have managed to pull your eyes away from the hypnotising image of the controller evolution above, well done, it took me a good 5 minutes.
GadgetLove say that one of the most interesting parts of how Nintendo's controllers have evolved is that they're all so different, compared to Sony and Microsoft's.
"Each new version isn't simply an evolution of form factor, but a reimagining of how next generation games will be played in the future"
The GadgetLove website has an interactive version of the gif above, which allows you to shift through the evolutionary phases at your own speed, you should definitely take a look at that.
