Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has been singing the praises of Radamel Falcao.
The Colombia international striker was on target for United against Aston Villa at Villa Park in the Premier League on Saturday.
It was Falcao’s second league goal of the season, and he had an overall impressive game in the 1-1 draw, having a shot accuracy of 100% and a pass accuracy of 94%, and creating four chances.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Van Gaal said that he is pleased with the 28-year-old and urged Ashley Young to continue his good run of form.
"Falcao is also dependable on his team-mates,” said the Dutchman. “He can be in great form, but the team has to be in great form.
“That allows Falcao to show his qualities. When the cross is not coming from Ashley Young, then he cannot show what he has done in the last match.”
Falcao, who joined United on a season-long loan deal from AS Monaco in the summer transfer window, is one of the deadliest strikers in the world, but injuries and lack of match fitness have impeded his progress in the Premier League so far.
The former Atletico Madrid striker’s place in the United starting line-up is also not guaranteed, but it is clear that slowly but steadily Falcao is getting back to his best.
