Chelsea went three points clear at the top of the Premier League with a typical away win in the mould of their manager.

A 2-0 win for Chelsea against Stoke City ensured they remain top of the table for Christmas and three points ahead of Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title.

Goals from John Terry and Cesc Fabregas ensured that Jose Mourinho's side negotiated a difficult fixture as they bounced back from recent disappointing results away from home where they drew at Sunderland, and lost at Newcastle United.

They have their noses in front going into the festive period where they face two of this season's surprise packages in the form of West Ham United and Southampton.

There were plenty of talking points from the game. Aside from the goals there was a lot of talk about a challenge from Phil Bardsley on Eden Hazard which brought about a yellow card for the Potters defender, though some, including Jose Mourinho judging by his reaction on the touchline, though it should have been a Red.

The game got a little heated for a period from then on but the visitors managed to soak up the pressure and their class came through to record a big win.
