Celtic are reported to be ready to replace Emiliano Izaguirre.

Celtic are reported to be considering replacing Honduran Emiliano Izaguirre this January.

The left-back has a contract until 2017 but his performances this season have left his new manager feeling underwhelmed.

The Scottish Sun report: "Hoops boss Ronny Deila has decided Izzy isn’t good enough defensively and wastes too many balls in forward areas.

"He’s now looking to bring in a replacement in the January window."

Izaguirre has been at the club since 2010, and has made more than 30 appearances in all competitions this season.

The report goes as far as to name Izaguirre's potential replacements as Graeme Shinnie of Inverness and Stephen Hendrie of Hamilton, also stating that Deila could look to the Scandinavian market.

The defender is however to some degree a proven commodity, having played at the World Cup and in European competition.

His performances this season have been disappointing though, including the weekend's defeat to Dundee United.

With only this campaign to assess him on first hand, it's understandable Ronny Deila is looking at alternatives, but keeping him around as a squad player may be a wise move rather than instantly selling him on.
