Gus Poyet has admitted he hasn't watched much of Hull City, who are Sunderland's opponents on Boxing Day.
The Uruguayan manager was thoroughly prepped for the side's last match against Newcastle United, having analysed their play on numerous occasions, but his knowledge level of the Tigers isn't as thorough.
It means that Poyet is having to have a frantic week of studying Hull's play to ensure that he knows their tactical plans.
“To be honest, I watched Newcastle a lot, but I’ve only watched Hull in a couple of games," he revealed to the Sunderland Echo. "This week is going to be an interesting one to really concentrate on what they’ve been doing."
“They’ve been missing players, so it’s a different approach to Newcastle.”
Poyet is a deep-thinker, who likes to make alterations to his tactics depending on his opponents, so his comments are a slight worry.
However, Sunderland will still go into the game full of confidence of getting the three points.
The Black Cats smashed in a late winner against Newcastle in their last outing and that momentum should carry them through the contest against a struggling Hull side.
Steve Bruce's men are entrenched in a relegation battle and Sunderland will be looking to heap further misery on them on Friday.
