Everton manager Roberto Martinez believes that West Ham United and Southampton have been the two best teams in England's top flight so far this season.
At the moment, West Ham are in fourth spot with Southampton occupying fifth place in the table and Martinez has paid tribute to the duo's achievements.
"Southampton and West Ham have been the best teams for me this season when you look at how they have performed," he said to the Daily Mail. "The league is more open than it was the last campaign."
The two surprise packages have become the envy of many clubs across the country and Martinez will certainly be jealous of their current positions in the table.
Everton have struggled so far and are down in 11th spot after failing to meet expectations.
The Toffees were predicted to be in with a chance of emulating last season's fifth-placed finish, but they have looked well short of quality so far and it seems unlikely they will be able to replicate the dizzying heights of last term.
Martinez's men were the victims of Southampton's attacking threat this weekend. The Saints have struggled recently, but they were back to their best on Saturday as they beat Everton 3-0 at St. Mary's showing what they are capable of.
