The Daily Mail has reported that up to seven players could leave Tottenham Hotspur next month.
The Daily Mail claims that up to seven players are facing futures away from White Hart Lane this January, with manager Mauricio Pochettino considering fresh faces.
Spurs are in decent shape financially, but the Mail has suggested that more than one player will have to make way this winter in order to facilitate any new arrivals.
“The club will listen to offers for Paulinho, Vlad Chiriches, Aaron Lennon and Andros Townsend next month,” reports the national daily.
“Likewise, the futures of Emmanuel Adebayor, Moussa Dembele and Jan Vertonghen are also unclear going into the January window.”
Paulinho and Chiriches in particular have struggled to feature in Pochettino’s first team this season and could realistically be allowed to leave.
There is reported interest in both players from clubs outside England, which would be more favourable to chairman Daniel Levy than selling to one of the club’s main rivals.
Lennon and Townsend have both been used inconsistently, though both are superb impact players with a good deal of experience in the Premier League, which may persuade the boss to hang onto them.
Dembele and Vertonghen are two high profile players where it would be surprising to see either leave in January, but Emmanuel Adebayor’s exit wouldn’t be a surprise to many fans, with his departure also freeing up space in terms of wages.
It could be a big January for Tottenham in terms of players coming and going and it will be fascinating to see how Pochettino judges the situation.
