Manchester United morning news: Bale rumours update, Schmeichel on 'fantastic' Hummels

A round up of news stories this morning about Manchester United.

Reports suggest any deal for Real Madrid star Gareth Bale will not happen in January.

Several media outlets have suggested that Bale is open to the idea of an Old Trafford switch in what would be a huge transfer for all parties financially.

However, reports agree that any deal between all parties concerned won’t happen until next summer, if it goes through at all.

Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel has urged his club to sign Mats Hummels from Borussia Dortmund.

Hummels has routinely been linked with United for well over a year, with the Old Trafford side yet to make a formal approach to the German club.

“First and foremost United need defenders. They also need a leader. Signing Hummels could give them both. So of course if they are successful in securing his services, it would be a fantastic addition to the squad,” the Dane told IBTimes.

Manchester United are one of the sides reportedly considering a move for Sergio Busquets of Barcelona.

Reports this morning suggest the Spanish international is open to a possible future away from the Bernabeu.

Arsenal and Chelsea are also listed as interested in the initial round of rumours.
