Manchester City morning news: Pellegrini on City 'miracle', Silva on challenging Chelsea

A round up of news stories this morning about Manchester City.

Manuel Pellegrini says there is no secret behind his team’s turnaround in form.

City are joint top of the Premier League until Chelsea play against Stoke later this evening.

“I know three weeks ago we were many points behind, close to elimination in the Champions League and we were a team that depends on Sergio Aguero. So maybe this is a miracle. But the miracle has a name — and that is work,” said the Chilean.

Manchester City midfielder David Silva feels his side are in a great position to apply pressure to Chelsea.

City are the closest challengers to the Blues ahead of a busy Christmas and New Year schedule, which starts this week.

“We were eight points behind Chelsea a few weeks ago and now we have the same number of points - at least until they play on Monday - so maybe we can put a bit of pressure on them,” said the Spaniard.

Manchester City loanee John Guidetti is one of the players reportedly facing the axe at Celtic.

Celtic boss Ronny Deila is thought to be furious after a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Dundee United.

“Could Guidetti's place be under threat? Yeah. We have big competition in the team,” said Deila.
