Arsenal fans criticise Per Mertesacker’s performance v Liverpool on Twitter

Arsenal supporters were far from happy with Per Mertesacker’s performance against Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday.

Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker has been in disappointing form so far this season, and he continued that trend on Sunday.

The Gunners took on Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League high in confidence, but they had to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Philippe Coutinho gave Liverpool the lead on the stroke of half time, but Mathieu Debuchy equalised just moments later for the North London outfit.

Olivier Giroud put Arsenal ahead on 64 minutes, only for Martin Skrtel to head home in injury time to salvage a point for the Reds.

Mertesacker had an overall disappointing game, and his performance against the Merseyside outfit was summed up when he ducked for Skrtel’s header which won Liverpool a point.

The 30-year-old 2014 World Cup winner has been in poor form so far this season and seems to be a liability at the back at the moment.

The former Germany international’s performance against Liverpool was criticised by the Arsenal fans, who took to social networking site Twitter to have their say.
