West Ham fans react on Twitter to Downing's performance against Leicester

West Ham United defeated Leicester City 2-0 on Saturday but what did Hammers fans think of Stewart Downing's performance?

It is easy to say West Ham United's additions of Diafra Sakho, Enner Valencia and Alex Song have transformed the side from a mid-table team to top-four contenders, but the truth is so many of the Hammers players - both new and more familiar - have played their part in the club's resurgence.

Stewart Downing is one such star, who has looked a different player in recent months and whose goal in the 2-0 win against Leicester City this weekend was an emphatic reminder of exactly what he is capable of.

The 30-year-old has made 17 appearances for West Ham this season, playing every minute of every league game bar the 2-1 defeat to Everton.

In that time, Downing has scored four goals and provided six assists, as he has played a part every bit as vital as the summer signings so astutely added by manager Sam Allardyce.

West Ham are currently fourth in the Premier League table, just a single point behind Manchester United following their fine win against the Foxes.

After that match we took to Twitter to see what West Ham fans made of Downing's latest performance and below you can read a selection of what we found:
