Tottenham Hotspur play-maker Christian Eriksen is enjoying a fine second season at the club and he appears to be getting better at exactly the right time for his side.
While Spurs' campaign to date has been hit-and-miss, recent results have suggested they could be in for an enjoyable 2015, and Eriksen was again at the heart of things when his side overcame Burnley 2-1 on Saturday.
The goals may have come from Harry Kane and Erik Lamela, but Tottenham's Danish international put in his best performance of the league campaign in terms of key passes.
In total, Eriksen laid on eight goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates in a single 89-minute appearance, three more than his second best attempt against Hull City (when he played five key passes).
|Position||Match||Key Passes||Goal Assist||Shots||Shots on Target||Touches||Dribbles||Mins Played|
|Christian Eriksen||MF||Tottenham vs Burnley||8||0||4||0||91||3||89|
|Christian Eriksen||MF||Hull City vs Tottenham||5||0||5||1||105||1||90|
|Christian Eriksen||MF||Swansea vs Tottenham||3||1||2||2||75||3||90|
|Christian Eriksen||MF||Tottenham vs C. Palace||3||0||3||1||80||2||90|
|Christian Eriksen||MF||Sunderland vs Tottenham||3||0||3||1||104||3||86|
There are areas of Eriksen's game that he still needs to improve; not least his shooting accuracy given that he had four attempts against Burnley but failed to hit the target even once.
But it is clear Tottenham have a player who is able to regularly set up his teammates; and if Mauricio Pochettino can sign that quality goal-scorer he is seeking, Eriksen could see his assist-tally swiftly increase.
