West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has been singing the praises of midfielder Stewart Downing.
England international Downing has been in truly brilliant form so far this season and was once again superb on Saturday.
The 30-year-old scored a wonderful goal from 20 yards against Leicester City at the Boleyn Ground to help the Hammers to a 2-0 win.
Downing’s overall performance against the Foxes was also impressive, as he created two chances, had a 77% pass accuracy, put in 10 crosses, and made one clearance.
"There is no doubt we deserved to win with the quality finishes from Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing,” BBC Sport quotes Allardyce as saying.
“Stewart is one of the best attacking players in the Premier League with the way he is playing, and he is getting goals on the back of that. It is a very big win for us before we have Chelsea next.”
The win against Leicester means that West Ham remain fourth in the Premier League table heading into Christmas.
