Rangers betting update: Clear favourite but Butcher & Wise also in running

Ally McCoist's replacement could be one of four men, according to the bookies...

With Ally McCoist confirmed by Rangers to have been put on gardening leave, bookmakers have set their eyes on who will replace the Scot at the First Division side.

And a clear favourite has emerged in Billy Davies (priced as low as 4/6), according to sports betting website Oddschecker.

Davies has previously managed both Derby County and Nottingham Forest and has created a controversial reputation for himself within the media. The 50-year-old also played for Rangers in the early 1980s.

But three other managers are not too far behind in the running, according to the bookies.

Indeed, priced at 6/1 are Stuart McCall and Terry Butcher. Interestingly, though, a fourth-favourite has emerged in Dennis Wise, rated by some bookmakers as 7/1 or 12/1.

Other outsiders include Gennaro Gattuso, Tim Sherwood, Jim Jefferies and Derek McInnes, although their odds are some way off the front-running quartet.
