Moussa Sissoko admits ‘I love Arsenal’ but Newcastle hold all the cards

France Football

Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko has been speaking about his love for Arsenal, but Magpies fans need not be worried.

Newcastle United player Moussa Sissoko has generated a few headlines this weekend following comments he made to French publication L’Equipe.

In comments later translated by Sport Witness, the Magpies star was specifically asked about the rumours linking him with a move to Arsenal.

“When I was young, Arsenal was my favourite club,” Sissoko is quoted as saying. “There was my idol Patrick Vieira. I’ve always loved this club; I still love them.”

While going on to acknowledge the rumours linking him with a move to the Emirates Stadium, Sissoko said he did not pay too much attention and that his agent takes care of that type of thing.

So, does that mean the 25-year-old could be on his way to Arsenal sooner rather than later? Well, not really.

Sissoko has a contract at Newcastle until June 2019, so there is absolutely no need for the Magpies to sell.

He is also excelling at St James’ Park and will be all too aware that things are looking up at the club after their brilliant recent form.

He may well love Arsenal, but plenty of players love the club’s they supported as a boy but like nothing better than getting one over them on match-day.

So while the comments suggest he would not be averse to a move to North London, Newcastle hold all the cards.
