Michael Owen predicts Liverpool v Arsenal

Michael Owen looks ahead to Sunday’s Premier League clash between Liverpool and Arsenal.

Michael Owen does not expect Liverpool to lose the Premier League clash against Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday.

The Reds will head into the contest on the back of a 3-1 victory over Bournemouth away from home in the quarter-finals of the League Cup.

It was one of Liverpool’s best performances so far this season and followed a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford in the league last weekend.

Owen, a former Liverpool striker, is impressed with the side’s positive signs of late and backs them to at least draw against Arsenal.

“I thought Liverpool played well for long periods at Old Trafford and again at Dean Court midweek and perhaps the Reds have finally turned the corner and are coming to terms with life after Suarez,” the 35-year-old wrote on Betvictor.com.

“They thrashed Arsenal 5-1 in the corresponding fixture last season and I don’t expect them to lose to a Gunners’ side who remain defensively fragile.”

Owen’s claims that Liverpool did not play badly at Old Trafford last weekend is justified by the fact that it was United goalkeeper David de Gea who was the best player on the pitch.

However, not much should be read into the result at Bournemouth. After all, Liverpool were playing a Championship side.

Nevertheless, Liverpool should feel confident heading into the match against Arsenal.
