Martin Keown explains how Charlie Austin is similar to Ian Wright

Former Arsenal star Martin Keown underlines a similarity between Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin and Ian Wright.

Martin Keown has compared Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin’s hunger for goals to that of his former Arsenal teammate Ian Wright.

Austin was in sensational form for QPR against West Bromwich Albion at Loftus Road on Saturday, scoring a hat-trick as the hosts came from two goals down to win the Premier League encounter 3-2.

The three goals took the 25-year-old’s tally to 11 in the league for the season, and former Arsenal star Keown has showered him with praise.

“Charlie Austin is living the dream,” the 48-year-old told BBC Sport. “There is a certainty about him that everything is going well.

“I was in the Arsenal team with Ian Wright and he was very similar. Once he got one goal he wanted more. Austin will be bouncing around now picking up every newspaper in London, because he is the headline.”

Austin has been in really good form so far this season, and there have been calls for him to be named in the next England squad.

For QPR to avoid relegation from the Premier League at the end of the season, Austin’s goals will be important.

Rangers fans will hope that the striker continues to deliver, just as he did against West Brom on Saturday.
