Arsenal star said last season he couldn't wait to play at Anfield, but it turned out to be a personal and collective disaster.
An innocuous tweet at the time, Mesut Ozil's pre-game comment the last time Arsenal traveled to Anfield only served to emphasise his poor performance.
The German international headed to Liverpool with the rest of the squad in February, keen to make his mark.
Unfortunately he put in one of his worst ever performances and set in motion the start of a barrage of criticism which came his way.
Arsenal were heavily beaten 5-1 by Liverpool, a scoreline which could have been higher had the Reds not eased off.
Ozil was especially woeful, giving away possession leading to Liverpool scoring on the counter-attack, and offered nothing going forward.
While he will have entered the game at Anfield keen to savour the experience, it will remain a nightmare one for him for at least another season.
The Gunners record signing remains sidelined through a knee injury which has kept him out since October, and will not get a chance to right his wrong at Anfield this season, unless the two teams are drawn together in the FA Cup.
He will hope his teammates can repair the damage the team sustained last time, against a Liverpool team struggling for form. It may even have been the perfect time for Ozil to pick the Reds apart.
