Former Manchester United player Bebe's lifeline after Benfica injury blow

Having failed to feature in the league for Benfica since leaving Manchester United, Bebe reportedly has a lifeline despite rumours of a loan move.

Former Manchester United player Bebe may have a chance at Benfica this season after all, despite the Portuguese forward failing to make a single league appearance since his £2.4million move.

Bebe has gone down in history as arguably their most baffling transfer, having arrived for a reported £7.4million with few knowing anything about him.

After just seven appearances for the first-team, United sold him to the Portuguese champions following a successful loan spell at Pacos de Ferreira.

But the 24-year-old was tipped to leave Benfica on loan in January having failed – so far at least – to convince manager Jorge Jesus he should feature regularly for them.

However, newspaper Record reports that Bebe may have an unlikely chance to show what he can do in the second half of the campaign.

With Eduardo Salvio sustaining an arm injury that is set to rule him out until mid-February, the former United player is being tipped as an option from the right-wing.

After just five appearances and 216 minutes of football this season in all competitions, things have not gone according to plan for Bebe at exactly the time he was tipped to prove his remaining doubters wrong.  But he could not have a chance to prove he does have a place at a top club European club after all.
