Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp explains why he has no chance of signing Tottenham Hotspur’s Andros Townsend

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp believes that Tottenham Hotspur will not be willing to loan out Andros Townsend in the January transfer window.

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has said that he has no chance of signing Andros Townsend on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.

England international Townsend is reportedly on the radar of London outfit QPR, who are currently third from bottom in the Premier League table and are on the lookout for players to recruit on loan.

The 23-year-old impressed on a loan spell at Loftus Road two seasons ago, but Redknapp has written off the chances of bringing him next month.

"I don’t think we have got a chance of getting him,” GetWestLondon quotes Redknapp as saying. “He was in the team the other night. I wouldn’t see them loaning him out.”

Townsend has featured in five Premier League matches so far this season and has played in as many games in the Europa League.

The winger has not always impressed, but he has shown in some matches that he can step up and do a good job for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Tottenham boss Pochettino is still looking for his best starting line-up, and given the number of times Townsend has played in the league, one suspects that he may not be in the first xi in the long run.

If Redknapp truly wants Townsend, then he should still make a move for him in January, especially if the winger does not get too much playing time over the festive period.
