The Frenchman delighted City fans during their 3-0 win over the Eagles.
Indeed, following Manchester City's 3-0 win, many supporters sang the praises of Frenchman Samir Nasri - who went slightly more under the radar but performed just as brilliantly as Spaniard Silva.
And the midfielder's display - as well as that of City's XI more generally - is an example of why Manuel Pellegrini's men won the league title last season, according to their manager.
“I was always confident because we played very well in the first half. We had the patience to try and create the space and we didn’t allow them to have counterattacks," Pellegrini told reporters after the 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.
"We are in a good moment and no one believed a few months ago that we could continue in the Champions League and be able to fight for the title but we always trusted in what we do.
"I am so happy that once again this squad demonstrated why we won the title last year.”
Back to Nasri more specifically, though, and Manchester City fans were delighted with the Frenchman on Twitter, as many picked the 27-year-old as their man of the match v Crystal Palace.
My MOTM would of been Nasri. He just never stopped through out the game. He showed strength, skill and pure class at times. #MCFC— #32 (@tommcfc_lloyd) December 20, 2014
Samir Nasri is worth every single penny we paid for him. #mcfc— MCFC World (@MCFCworld) December 20, 2014
