Well-known Bundesliga expert Jan Age Fjortoft believes that Mats Hummels is unlikely to leave Borussia Dortmund and join Manchester United in the January transfer window.
Germany international defender Hummels has been linked with a move to United since the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old is one of the best centre-backs in the world and was a key player in Germany’s 2014 World Cup-winning squad.
United are reportedly looking for a centre-back to consolidate their defence for the second half of the season, and Hummels is claimed to be on their radar.
However, former Middlesbrough and Sheffield United forward Fjortoft, who is now a renowned Bundesliga expert, is the opinion that the ex-Bayern Munich defender will not be available next month.
Re: Mats Hunmels Can't see him being available this window! -Dortmund still in the CL -Dortmund need their best players to climb the table— Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) December 18, 2014
Both of Fjortoft’s points in his argument are very strong.
There have been suggestions that due to Dortmund’s struggles in the Bundesliga, Hummels would be tempted to leave.
But the German is the captain of the team, and having achieved so much at the club, he is certainly not going to desert them in such trying times.
Moreover, playing in the Champions League is every player’s dream, and Hummels is living that dream.
