Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder and now renowned Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has predicted Liverpool and Arsenal to play out a score draw at Anfield on Sunday.
The Reds won this fixture 5-1 last season, but there is very little chance of a repeat happening on Sunday due to the Merseysiders’ disappointing form this campaign.
Last weekend’s morale-crushing 3-0 defeat at rivals Manchester United leave the Reds in 11th spot in the Premier League table, seven points behind the top four.
The Gunners haven’t hit the heights of last season either, although in spite of their inconsistencies this campaign, manager Arsene Wenger knows that he has a genuine match-winner in Chilean superstar Alexis Sanchez.
With attacking talents coupled with defensive frailties evident for both sides, many observers are expecting a goal-scoring affair, and Redknapp is no different as he looks ahead to the big game.
“This will be a case of who has the better footballers on show and, with neither team possessing a great defence, it should be a good game,” he told Sky Sports.
“It’s a tough one to call because of that reason. It’s also a big game, in terms of who finishes up in the top four.
“If Arsenal win it they’ll be bankers to finish in the Champions League spots. If Liverpool win then they get themselves back into the equation!
“I’m predicting a score draw. Things are starting to gel from an attacking point of view but this is a big test.”
