Cruzeiro midfielder Lucas Silva is edging towards a move to Real Madrid.
The Brazilian U23 international has caught the attentions of a number of top European clubs and looks set to leave Cruzeiro during the January transfer window.
Arsene Wenger’s side in particular are light in midfield and with Jack Wilshere expected to be out for a lengthy spell on the sidelines with injury an extra addition in January would be a sensible decision.
The Red Devils are similarly light in the middle of the park, but with the likes of Fellaini and Rooney offering versatility the situation doesn't appear as desperate.
Nevertheless, it’s looking increasingly likely that a potential move for Cruzeiro’s star player is out of the question as the player seemingly has his sights set on a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
“I’m ready to join Real Madrid… either now or in June. I belong to Cruzeiro and what is meant to happen will happen,” he was quoted as saying by Sky Sports Italia.
It was reported by the Spanish press last week that the Gunners have placed a €15 million offer for the player, although this has yet to be confirmed or denied by the club.
Should he get his much-desired transfer to Carlo Ancelotti’s Madrid side, then Silva will be in a battle with fellow midfielders Toni Kroos, Sami Khedira, Aiser Illarramendi and Luka Modric for a first-team spot.
