When will Facebook have more dead than live users?

Grave

By now, anyone who's used social media long enough probably knows at least one person who has passed away, but whose LinkedIn or Facebook profile page remains, somewhat creepily.

It turns out that deceased users may be Facebook's greatest source of growth over the next century.

A report issued recently by research firm Internet Monitor surfaced the curious projection that, if the social media giant's user base continues to grow, dead users of the platform will outnumber living ones by 2130.

The study cites the website What If? - xkcd as the source of the statistic-which also says that by another analysis the living/dead ratio could be passed as early as the 2060s.

Another factoid from the same source: Between 10 million and 20 million Facebook profiles likely belong to people who have passed on.
