Sam Allardyce's FA Cup promise to West Ham fans

The Hammers boss says his side are going to 'have a real go.'

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce says there is 'absolutely no reason' his side should not try their utmost to win the FA Cup this season.

And the Hammers boss has promised supporters of the east London side that the tournament will be a priority for them in 2015.

West Ham are currently going strong in the Premier League, sitting fourth in the table, a situation that gives Allardyce all the confidence he needs to take the cup seriously this term.

"One thing I can assure West Ham fans is the FA Cup tie at Everton on January 6 will be a priority for us," the 60-year-old wrote in his weekly column for the London Evening Standard.

"We have a full squad, we’re in a great position in the Premier League so there is absolutely no reason why we shouldn’t have a real go at it.

"The only downside is that, because the tie is not until Tuesday January 6, our African players — Diafra Sakho, Cheikhou Kouyate and Alex Song — will have already departed for the African Cup of Nations."
