The Newcastle United players have stepped up their preparations ahead of Sunday’s Tyne-Wear derby against Sunderland at St. James’ Park.
Alan Pardew’s side will head into the Premier League clash on the back of a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur in the quarter-finals of the League Cup.
The Magpies’ second-half performance at White Hart Lane left much to be desired, and they will be determined to bounce back in style.
Newcastle, who are currently eighth in the Premier League table with 23 points from 16 matches, have been boosted by the return to fitness of goalkeeper Jak Alnwick.
The 21-year-old suffered a shoulder injury against Tottenham and was initially doubtful for Sunday’s match.
Alnwick has been passed fit to feature against Sunderland, and he looked good and strong in training on Friday.
