Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko has said that he and his teammates are "ready" for the Tyne–Wear derby against Sunderland on Sunday.
Alan Pardew’s side will head into the Premier League clash at St. James’ Park on the back of a 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur away from home in the League Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday.
It was a demoralising defeat in which Newcastle crumbled in the second half, but Sissoko insists that the team will recover against the Black Cats.
“We will be ready for Sunderland,” The Daily Star quotes the France international as saying. ”All of us know it is a massive game for us and the city so we have to forget all about the Tottenham defeat.
“We know we haven't been good enough in recent games against them. But I can assure supporters we know just what it means so we will be focussed.”
Newcastle are currently eighth in the Premier League table with 23 points from 16 matches, while Sunderland are just two points above the relegation zone in 15th.
