Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen has backed Tottenham Hotspur to get the better of Burnley tomorrow.
Spurs will host the promoted outfit at White Hart Lane in the Premier League looking for their third successive win in all competitions.
Tottenham defeated Swansea City 2-1 away from home in the league last weekend and destroyed Newcastle United 4-0 at home in the League Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday.
The North London outfit will be overwhelming favourites to win the contest against Burnley, and Owen predicts them to pick up all three points.
“The hosts marched into the last four of the Capital One Cup midweek and I expect them to pick up all three points against a Clarets side who have picked up just one point in the PL on their previous eight games in the capital,” the 35-year-old wrote on Betvictor.com.
Tottenham will head into the game placed seventh in the league table with 24 points from 16 matches, while Burnley are just a point and a place above the relegation zone.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are not ‘guaranteed’ of winning against Burnley as the visitors have run into some decent form, but anything other than a victory for the hosts will be a surprise.
Having won their last two competitive matches and played well, Tottenham will be high in confidence. The players should not get complacent and should be patient if they struggle to break down Burnley in the opening stages of the encounter.
