Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson has backed Tottenham Hotspur to win against Burnley on Saturday, but he is “still not convinced by them”.
Spurs will head into the Premier League clash at White Hart Lane looking for their third successive win in all competitions, having defeated Swansea City and Newcastle United over the last few days.
While Tottenham edged past Swansea 2-1 at the Liberty Stadium in the league last weekend, the North London outfit hammer the Magpies 4-0 at home in the quarter-finals of the League Cup.
Next up for Mauricio Pochettino’s side is a home match against Burnley, which Lawrenson expects them to win but remains unsure about the team’s long-term success.
“Tottenham have had a good week with two wins already in the league and the Capital One Cup and I think they will make that three wins out of three,” the 57-year-old told BBC Sport.
“I am still not convinced by them, especially at home, and the thing that sums up where they are at right now is that they could easily go out and lose their next three games too.”
While Lawrenson is right about Tottenham not looking convincing at the moment, his claims that they could lose their next three games is a bit hard to digest.
Burnley at White Hart Lane are perfectly beatable, while picking up all three points at Leicester City on Boxing Day should not be too difficult. The home match against Manchester United next weekend, though, will be tough.
