Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen is confident of a win against Burnley at White Hart Lane in the Premier League on Saturday.
Spurs will head into the clash on the back of successive wins in all competitions, having got the better of Swansea City 2-1 in the league last weekend and then hammering Newcastle United 4-0 in the League Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday.
The North London outfit will be confident of defeating 17th-placed Burnley, and Vertonghen has highlighted two key factors the players need to keep in mind.
“We’ve done well in the last few games and everyone feels confident,” Tottenham’s official website quotes the Belgium international as saying. “Okay, we lost at Chelsea but I didn’t think we played too badly there.
“We really wanted to win the quarter-final against Newcastle, especially at home and we started well, created chances, were focused at the back and tried to press them and it worked out well.
“Burnley will be another tough game at home and we need to put the same effort in. We’re getting more confident, creating more chances and that should help us on Saturday.”
Burnley have shown some good form and have started picking up points in recent matches, but Tottenham should still be considered heavy favourites.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino appears to have injected more confidence into his players, who have started playing the way he wants them to.
Tottenham have not always fared well at home this season, but the win against Newcastle will have certainly given them a boost.
