The 25-year-old Brazilian stopper is reportedly topping Brendan Rodgers’ transfer list for January, as he looks to find a replacement for error-prone ‘keeper Simon Mignolet.
They are said to be favouring a move for the Fiorentina man over the summer, with his contract expiring in the summer of 2015, but a potential loan in January with a view to a permanent switch could be agreed with the Serie A club.
With the interest from Merseyside growing, the former Brazilian Under-23 international has been holding off signing a new deal with the Viola, and it looks as if his current club are starting prepare for life without their number one.
A report in TMW has suggested that Fiorentina are looking at signing Danubio goalkeeper Salvador Ichazo in January, with the Uruguayan stopper holding an Italian passport to facilitate the deal. Much like the Neto deal that could see him at Anfield at the turn of the year, the Viola are reportedly keen on bringing in the 22-year-old on loan for the remainder of the season, before deciding whether to sign him permanently in the Summer of 2015.
The report that Fiorentina are already said to be looking at a replacement for Neto will read kindly for Liverpool, with them seeing the 25-year-old as a potential first-choice stopper at Anfield. It is still unknown whether Mignolet will be leaving Merseyside in January, but, with all the rumours surrounding incoming goalkeepers - including a move for Chelsea’s Petr Cech - it is the move for Neto that seems most likely.
