Are these players Manchester United's five main January transfer targets?

Manchester United have been linked with signing some world class players over the past week.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is in the fortunate position of being able to draw on vast resources if he wants to make additions to his squad in the January transfer window.

Here are five of the best players linked with the club over the past week.

Gareth Bale (Real Madrid)

United tried to get Bale before he moved to Real Madrid and there’s current speculation that the club could make a £90 million offer for the Welshman.

Kevin Strootman (AS Roma)

A long term target for the club and a player who could inject something different into United’s midfield.

Wesley Sneijder (Galatasaray)

Another long term Dutch target for the club. United have fresh hope after Southampton pulled out of the race to sign him, as they can’t afford his wages.

Nicolas Otamendi (Valencia)

The most recent reports suggest United are ready to renew their interest in the 26-year-old Argentine.

Lucas Silva (Cruzeiro)

United are one of the sides thought to be interest in the young midfielder, with Real Madrid reportedly re-evaluating their interest in him.
