Tottenham Hotspur defender Federico Fazio is not getting carried away with his side’s recent good form.
The North London outfit have registered back-to-back wins, first in the Premier League and then in the League Cup.
Spurs got the better of Swansea City 2-1 away form home on Sunday and hammered Newcastle United 4-0 at White Hart Lane in the quarter-finals of the League Cup on Wednesday.
With Tottenham also in the last 32 of the Europa League, the signs are looking good at the moment, but Fazio, who won the Europa League and the Copa del Rey with Sevilla, urges caution.
“The thought of playing at Wembley sounds great but now we need to only think about the semi-finals,” Tottenham’s official website quotes the 27-year-old as saying. “We need to take it step by step and focus only on Sheffield United.
“They are in the semi-finals because they have a good team and have had a good run in this competition - we know it won’t be easy. We must not underestimate them.
“It was a great result against Newcastle. We are alive in all competitions which is important and good for the team to continue on this path.”
Winning against Sheffield United in the semi-finals of the League Cup will not be easy for Tottenham, although the Premier League outfit will be favourites over the two legs.
Cup competitions are always tough to call, but if Spurs remain disciplined and take all opponents seriously, then they can certainly win both the League Cup and the Europa League.
