A round up of news stories this morning about Tottenham Hotspur.
Mauricio Pochettino feels the 4-0 win against Newcastle was Tottenham’s best performance since he joined the club.
Spurs were comfortable winners as they setup a League Cup semi-final clash against Sheffield United.
“Maybe it was the best performance since I’ve been here. Some games we have played very well but this result is very important for us because it’s at home in front of our supporters,” said the boss.
Midfielder Benjamin Stambouli has described the performance as perfect.
The holding midfielder says everything came naturally and Tottenham didn’t have to force the issue.
“I think it was a perfect performance. We were focused on our opponents, we had that willingness to score and it came naturally,” he said after the game.
Tottenham have reportedly hit back at claims from former manager Andre Villas-Boas.
AVB suggested that he wasn’t allowed to sign any of his first choice targets when Luka Modric was sold to Real Madrid.
“The chairman proposed a challenge to increase Tottenham's competitive level, but immediately (Luka) Modric left and we didn't get any of the targets I had identified, such as Joao Moutinho, Willian, Oscar or Leandro Damiao,” said AVB.
