Tim Howard: 'I feel for Mignolet, even though he's a Red'

The Everton goalkeeper fears there is 'no way back' for his Liverpool counterpart.

It's not often an Everton player will ever feel sympathy for a member of Liverpool's first team.

In this case, however, Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard feels sorry for Liverpool counterpart Simon Mignolet - 'even though he's a Red.'

The Toffees shot stopper was speaking to promote his new autobiography and says he fears there is 'no way back' for the Belgian at Liverpool.

Boss Brendan Rodgers has recently dropped Mignolet from the first team and Everton's Howard 'doesn't agree' with his treatment.

“I feel for Simon, even though he's a Red,” Howard told reporters while promoting his autobiography, 'The Keeper'.

“It's hard for a goalkeeper. I think the quote is 'taking the goalkeeper out of the spotlight' but I think it only sheds more light on him.

“I don't agree with it. I think you have to go with a goalkeeper and appreciate there will be ups and downs, especially in this league. It's so fast, it's so rough, it's a tough league for goalkeepers.

“I'll be honest and I think it's a hard road back now. I think, when you get taken out of the team, sometimes there's no way back."
