Hector Bellerin has just started to show Arsenal fans what he is capable of, so Bayer Leverkusen may have chosen a bad time to try and lure him.
The 19-year-old had looked shaky when called upon earlier in the season and Arsene Wenger appeared to favour Calum Chambers at right-back.
But Bellerin was excellent against Newcastle United last weekend and even earned a place in Garth Crooks's BBC Team of the Week.
Mathieu Debuchy remains first-choice on the right, but he is needed in the centre while Laurent Koscielny is injured, so Bellerin could win more game time if he can prove he's a better bet than Chambers.
A fortnight ago, an approach from Bayer Leverkusen would have looked mutually beneficial, especially if they are looking for a loan deal, but now they may be told to back off.
Arsene Wenger will now have an interesting decision to make, but he may well chose to keep Bellerin at the Emirates.
