Lutnick's BGC increases rival takeover bid

Howard Lutnick’s BGC Partners increased its takeover offer for rival interdealer broker GFI Group by 3.8%.

Bloomberg News reports that BGC sent a letter on December 11 to GFI bidding $5.45 a share, 20 cents more the previous proposal, GFI said today in a regulatory filing.

Its board of directors and a special committee are reviewing BGC’s offer.
