Mauricio Pochettino was a happy man after Tottenham's resounding 4-0 victory over Newcastle United in last night's Capital One Cup quarter-final.
Firstly, the Argentine believed it was Spurs' best performance under his management.
And the fans, as well as the players, also delighted Pochettino, as he felt last night was the first game in which the team and fans really connected.
"It was a fantastic night. I'm very happy because that was first time the relationship between the team and the supporters was there at White Hart Lane," the Spurs boss told reporters after his side's very convincing win.
"That was maybe our best performance under me. We know Tottenham have tradition in the cups and this victory was important for us. We needed this victory and performance for our supporters. Our players needed to feel that atmosphere."
On the north London side's semi-final draw, the Argentine added: "We need to have full respect for Sheffield United. We watched their game (a 1-0 win over Southampton) and they deserve to be in the semi-final."
