Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been reflecting on his side’s victory over Newcastle United in the League Cup on Wednesday.
The quarter-final tie at White Hart Lane was expected to be close and competitive, but it was anything but.
North London outfit Spurs eased to a 4-0 win, thanks to goals from Nabil Bentaleb, Nacer Chadli, Kane and Roberto Soldado.
Looking back on the match, Kane underlined the importance of Chadli’s goal in the opening minutes of the second half and told Tottenham’s official website: “Scoring the second goal straight after half-time really helped ease any nerves and killed any momentum they might have got.”
Newcastle defender Massadio Haidara has a similar opinion and told the Magpies’ official website: “The second goal was very important in the game - for both teams. It changed the game.”
Tottenham will now take on Sheffield United in the semi-finals of the League Cup.
