Chelsea morning news: Cech purrs over potential, Hazard contract update

Stamford Bridge

A round up of news stories this morning about Chelsea.

Chelsea have been drawn against Liverpool in the semi-finals of the League Cup.

The Blues defeated Derby earlier this week while Liverpool saw off AFC Bournemouth last night.

Petr Cech feels the current Chelsea side can become one of the best in history.

The goalkeeper, currently linked with an exit, feels the Blues can only be judged on what they achieve this season.

“This team has the potential and the quality to become one of the best teams in Chelsea's history if it proves it by winning the trophies,” he told the Mirror.

Eden Hazard is reportedly a step closer to a new contract with Chelsea.

The Belgian has been one of the club’s standout attacking players over the last couple of seasons.

Negotiations over a new deal worth £200,000 per week are thought to have started earlier this season.
