Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has been speaking about the club’s upcoming FA Cup campaign.
Louis van Gaal’s side will take on League One Yeovil Town at the start of January, and with no European exploits to look forward to, United could will attempt to add another domestic cup triumph to their record.
In an interview with Inside United later published by the club’s official website, the Spanish midfielder spoke about the differences between the FA Cup and the Copa del Rey and his ambitions in the competition.
“In Spain we play two legs in the cup, so I think it’s good that it can be down to just one game here, it makes it very emotional. So I like the FA Cup and when I was in Spain I always watched it.
“I want to play in this competition and it’s a big chance for us to win a cup. Last season Arsenal won it and this season we want to be in the final.”
United once lifted the FA Cup relatively regularly but it is a competition they have not always done their best in more recently.
However having seen the club slip out of the Capital One Cup in humiliating circumstances earlier this season, van Gaal is unlikely to treat the famous competition in the same way, with enough first-team stars clamouring for a chance for the line-up to be highly effective no matter who features.
