Many stats have been floated around regarding Tottenham Hotspur, and one of the most interesting came at the weekend.
On the ‘Monday Night Football’ show on Sky Sports, a graphic showed that Spurs have picked up more points in the last 10 minutes than any other Premier League team.
Tottenham have scored a number of late goals so far this season, and they all count for nine points.
North London rivals Arsenal have picked up six points from the last 10 minutes, while defending English champions Manchester City have collected five.
But that is nothing to proud of.
Scoring late winners can be very thrilling and joyful, but it is not what teams would - or should - want. One would like to end the game as a contest as soon as possible.
While scoring late goals shows how much effort and determination the Tottenham players have put in, the ‘feat’ also exposed their failure to get the better of teams with ease.
Arsenal, who are also struggling for consistency, appear to have a similar problem: not able to ‘kill’ games early on and relying on late winners.
Of course, a win is a win anyhow it is achieved, but the table above should come as a warning to both Arsenal and Tottenham: they cannot reply on late goals.
