A round up of news stories this morning about Tottenham Hotspur.

Reports from Portugal suggest Tottenham want Jackson Martinez and they’ll axe two players in order to sign him.

The £40 million rated forward could be part paid for with Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor heading in the other direction.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has backed the club’s in form striker Harry Kane to make the England side.

Kane has been the club’s most effective striker this season and one of the Premier League’s most productive Englishmen.

“Is it only a matter of time before he plays for England? Yes,” said Pochettino.

Pochettino has also suggested that he will take the blame for Tottenham’s exit from the League Cup, if they are beaten by Newcastle this evening.

Spurs face the Magpies, with Newcastle boss Alan Pardew promising his team will be at full strength.

“If you read the starting 11 maybe you will realise the criticism is not for the starting 11, for the players I put on the pitch, it's because we didn't score. I accept the criticism,” said the boss.
