The Celtic boss says the club are 'really working hard' to sign the Manchester City striker on a permanent basis.

Celtic boss Ronny Deila says the club are 'really working hard' to sign Manchester City striker John Guidetti.

The Swedish striker is currently on loan at the SPL champions from Premier League holders Manchester City and is out of contract in the summer.

And the Celtic boss has revealed that talks with the player and his agent about a permanent move are 'going the right way.'

“I hope he will sign the contract [by the time Celtic face Inter Milan in the Europa League in February],” Deila joked, quoted as saying by the Scotsman.

“It’s going on [contract talks]. We’re talking and have an arrangement with the agent, so it’s going the right way. You never know [if it will be done by the New Year]. We’ll see. The fans should know we’re really working hard on this.”

Guidetti has impressed since joining the Bhoys on loan from Manchester City and has already struck up a rapport with supporters. The 22-year-old was ineligible for Celtic's Europa League group stages but can participate from the last 32 onwards.
