Nottingham Forest winger Jamie Paterson has revealed that Brazilian legend Ronaldinho is his all-time favourite player.
Ronaldinho never played in the Premier League and is unlikely to do so, but no one can ever dispute that he is one of the greatest players of all time.
The 34-year-old enjoyed his best years with Barcelona between 2003 and 2008, winning La Liga twice, the Champions League once, the Ballon d’Or once, and the FIFA World Player of the Year twice during that period.
Former AC Milan and Flamengo star also won the Copa America, the World Cup and the FIFA Confederations Cup with Brazil.
Ronaldinho could have actually joined Manchester United back in 2003. Then at Paris Saint-Germain, the Brazilian was in talks with the Premier League outfit, but at the last minute he ended up at Barcelona.
“It almost happened with United’, Ronaldinho told FourFourTwo magazine a few months ago. “It was a matter of 48 hours, but Sandro Rosell had told me way before I got the offer: If I become Barca president, will you come? I said yes…
“I told the English I had chosen Barcelona. It was the right choice. Brazilians have always loved Barca. We have a history there. Off the pitch, it is nowhere else in Europe, so we are always happy playing there.”
