Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc has suggested he will not get involved in mind games with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.
PSG and Chelsea were drawn together for the last 16 of the Champions League earlier this week and Blanc has already been quizzed on the possibility of getting drawn into a psychological battle with the Portuguese coach.
Mourinho said before the draw that if he could handpick a tie for Chelsea, it would have been against PSG.
“Did Mourinho win the psychological battle? If he wins a point, it is because he's playing a game. I have no game to play with Jose,” Blanc is quoted by FourFourTwo.
“We know him. We know him very well. You [the media] like that, you like his quotes. That's it.”
“He's very strong in this aspect but not only [that].”
Mourinho is one of the best in the business when it comes to getting beneath the skin of opposing managers and forcing them to react in ways they wouldn’t normally behave.
It’s a skill by Mourinho, which helps take emphasis and pressure away from his players in the build up to big games and it’s something he’s done throughout his career in management.
Blanc will have a deep determination to get one over on Mourinho because of the way the Blues saw off PSG in the knock out stages of the competition last season.
However, he doesn’t seem to be ready to talk openly in the media which would create a confrontation with Mourinho.
Blanc seems ready to trust his players to get over the heartbreak of last season although Chelsea will be favourites as they continue to look good for what would be an historic quadruple this season.
